Downtown Las Vegas is an entirely different experience than the traditional vacation on the strip. Last week we shared why spending a vacation in downtown is a unique and great vacation all on its own. This week we want to highlight two museums that bring your knowledge of Las Vegas and its unique history to another level.
The Neon Museum
Created in 1996, The Neon Museum is a non-profit organization that collects, preserves and displays the iconic and classic neon signage that has characterized Las Vegas. The signs are kept outdoors in what they call the “Boneyard” and hosts hour long guided tours seven days a week. The Neon Museum is even available for weddings, photo shoots and other events.
Each sign in the Boneyard has a unique story and history, and with over 150 signs, there’s plenty to see and learn. Be sure to book a tour for the Neon Museum early along with your hotel reservation at Oasis, as their tours do sell out quickly. The Mob Museum
A world-class destination nestled in downtown, The Mob Museum is an interactive journey through true stories of organized crime. See how the police created ways to bring down the mob, the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre Wall of Al Capone and how Hollywood’s depiction of the mob have become fan favorites.
If you are interested in visiting both the Neon and Mob museum, you can purchase combination tickets starting at $30. To book combination tickets, choose to book a tour through either museum and there should be an option to add on a combination or call The Mob Museum box office at 702.229.2734.
After a day at the museum, come back to the Oasis at Gold Spike to get some food at The Living Room, or a cool refreshing drink at The Bar.
